Construction Work Gloves, Specified for the Site.
Site work is abrasive, wet and unpredictable. The same glove has to survive block, rebar and mortar inside one shift, so the specification starts with the task and not with the coating name.
For contractors, PPE distributors and importers buying for construction end users.
Typical specification

What the job actually demands
Four conditions decide the specification. On a real site they rarely appear alone.
01
Abrasion from block, brick and screed
Dry abrasive contact wears through a thin palm coating first. Crinkle latex at abrasion 3–4 keeps a usable palm for a full shift where a 0.8 mm PU palm will not last the morning.
02
Cut from rebar, mesh and sheet
Cut resistance comes from the liner, never from the coating. C–D covers most site handling; steel fixing, mesh and demolition move the requirement to E–F.
03
Wet and damp grip
Mortar, rain and wash-down change the grip requirement partway through the day. Latex keeps grip on a damp surface; nitrile foam earns its place when oil or fuel is present instead.
04
Glove changes and size mix
Sites lose more pairs to swapping and dropping than to wear. Buying a single size, usually 9, is the most common mistake on a first order.
Specification starting points
Starting points, not a catalogue. The sample decides the final build.
| Task | Typical level | Start from |
|---|---|---|
| General site handling 13-gauge polyester, crinkle latex palm coat | 2X42 | Crinkle latex gloves → |
| Wet, cold or winter work Fleece-lined knit, foam latex palm | 2X42 | Winter latex gloves → |
| Rebar, mesh and steel fixing HPPE blend, sandy nitrile palm | 4X43 / A4 | Level A5 cut resistant → |
| Fixings, trim and detail work 15-gauge knit, PU palm | 3X31 | Grey PU coated gloves → |
Reading the markings. The four digits come from EN 388 — abrasion, cut (coupe), tear and puncture. The letter comes from ISO 13997, which is the method that holds up on hard and abrasive edges. Where both appear, quote both in the brief. How the markings work.
Where this specification usually goes wrong
Three failures that show up on first orders, in the order they cost money.
Buying on the cut score alone
A 4X43 glove with a smooth nitrile palm still slips on a wet scaffold tube. Read the digits and the palm together, then match them to the surface the crew actually carries.
Treating the coupe digits as the whole story
The four digits come from the coupe test, which loses accuracy against hard abrasives. When the hazard is rebar, glass or sheet metal, ask for the ISO 13997 letter (A–F) as well.
One size for the whole crew
Fit drives both retention and cut performance: a loose glove rotates under load and exposes the palm. Ship an 8–11 run with 9 and 10 carrying the volume.

Packing & documents
What ships with the carton.
The glove is half the order. The other half is the pack, the marks and the paperwork that let a shipment clear and a reorder repeat.
01
Size mix
8–11 with 9 and 10 carrying most of the run. Confirm the split against the destination market.
02
Carton marks
Style, size, quantity, PO number and destination port marked on two sides.
03
Test evidence
Report for the quoted model and liner, not for the glove family.
04
Market entry
EU: PPE Regulation 2016/425 Category II, CE marking and a Declaration of Conformity per model. UK: UKCA.

Questions buyers ask
Answers we would give on a call, written down.
What cut level do I need for construction work?
C–D (roughly 3X42 to 4X43) covers general site handling. Steel fixing, mesh, demolition and rebar work belong at E–F. The task decides the level, not the industry: a groundworker and a steel fixer standing ten meters apart need different gloves.
Is crinkle latex better than nitrile for site work?
For dry and damp abrasive work, yes: latex has the higher abrasion resistance and keeps grip on a damp surface. Nitrile foam is the better answer once oil, fuel or hydraulic fluid is part of the task, and it is the safer choice for latex-sensitive wearers.
Can you print our logo on the glove?
Yes. Pad print and heat transfer on the back of the hand are the usual options, with artwork, print area and minimum quantity confirmed before sampling. See private label gloves for the full process.
What is the minimum order and how long do samples take?
Typical figures are 300 dozen per style and color, 7–10 working days for samples and 25–35 days for production*. These move with liner availability and artwork approval, so confirm them against your quotation.
Send the glove you need.
A product link, a reference photo or a short buying brief is enough to start. Include the quantity, destination and any marking requirement.
