Automotive Gloves for Oil, Stampings and Torque Work.

An assembly line combines oil film, stamped edges and small fasteners handled dozens of times a minute. Grip and dexterity decide the pick rate; cut level decides the incident report.

For Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, plant buyers and PPE distributors serving automotive plants.

Typical specification

Automotive

Coating

Foam and sandy nitrile

Oil is lifted away from the surface, not smeared

Cut target

A2–A3, A4–A5 in press shop

Depends on the zone, not the plant

Grip

Oily and wet components

Second choice after dexterity, never after cost

Packing

12 pairs / polybag, dispenser box*

Line-side issue and barcode labels available

* Typical figure. Confirm against your quotation.

What the job actually demands

Four conditions decide the specification. On a real site they rarely appear alone.

01

Oil film on fasteners and components

Nitrile foam lifts oil away from the surface instead of spreading it. The latex build that works on a building site becomes slick in the same conditions.

02

Burrs and stamped edges

Blanking and trim leave edges that cut at low force. A2 covers light handling; press, body shop and scrap handling move to A4–A5.

03

Torque, clips and connectors

Feel matters more than protection here. An 18-gauge PU or a thin nitrile palm keeps the tactile feedback needed to seat a clip without looking at it.

04

Lint and paint-shop contamination

Fiber shedding near paint, sealant and glazing lines becomes a defect. Specify a lint-controlled knit and confirm it with a sample on the actual line.

Reading the markings. The four digits come from EN 388 — abrasion, cut (coupe), tear and puncture. The letter comes from ISO 13997, which is the method that holds up on hard and abrasive edges. Where both appear, quote both in the brief. How the markings work.

Where this specification usually goes wrong

Three failures that show up on first orders, in the order they cost money.

One glove across the whole plant

The glove that suits final assembly is usually wrong in the press shop and worse in paint. Zone the plant first, then write one specification per zone.

Ignoring accelerator allergy

Thiuram and carbamate accelerators used in latex and nitrile gloves are a known skin sensitizer. Where operators report irritation, ask for accelerator-free or synthetic options and check the material declaration before trialing.

Lint where the process cannot tolerate it

Paint, sealant and glazing lines reject parts for defects a glove can cause. Confirm shedding behavior on the line, not from a datasheet.

Gloves that fit this brief

Stock constructions to start a sample from. Each one can be re-specified on liner, coating and packing.

Foam nitrile coated work gloves

Microporous nitrile palm for oily parts with breathable comfort.

EN 388 2X42  ·  15 gauge  ·  Oil grip

Sandy nitrile coated work gloves

Textured palm for wet and oily components, including sheet and castings.

EN 388 3X42  ·  Sandy finish  ·  Wet grip

Level A5 cut resistant gloves

Isotropic HPPE liner for press, trim and body-shop scrap.

A5 / ISO 13997  ·  HPPE liner  ·  Sandy palm

Packing & documents

What ships with the carton.

The glove is half the order. The other half is the pack, the marks and the paperwork that let a shipment clear and a reorder repeat.

01

Batch traceability

Lot number on the carton, linked to the coated batch and the liner shipment.

02

Line-side packing

Polybag or dispenser box, labeled by size, so a bin is never mixed.

03

Customer declarations

Material and substance declarations prepared to the plant’s own template where required.

04

Market entry

EU: PPE Regulation 2016/425 Category II with a Declaration of Conformity per model. UK: UKCA.

The brief

What to send us

Send what you already know. Missing items can be settled during sampling.

  • The zone: assembly, press, paint or logistics
  • The fluid involved: coolant, oil, grease or none
  • Cut level, or the reference glove being replaced
  • Lint tolerance and any cleanroom requirement
  • Dispenser or polybag, and the barcode format

Commercial

Order terms

Indicative ranges for this industry. They move with liner availability, coating color and artwork approval.

MOQ*

From 300 dozen per style and color, lower for a repeat of an existing build.

Sampling*

7–10 working days, with a line trial sample set on request.

Production*

25–35 days after approval, longer if a new liner has to be knitted.

* Typical range, not a quotation. Confirm current terms with the offer.

Questions buyers ask

Answers we would give on a call, written down.

Foam nitrile for oily components where dexterity and breathability matter most; sandy nitrile where the part is wet or the palm needs more mechanical grip. Many plants run both in different zones.

A4–A5 is the common working range for blanking, trim and scrap handling. Confirm it against the actual edge and the access to the die, and treat guarding and tooling as the primary control.

Yes. Nitrile and PU builds avoid natural rubber latex entirely. Where the sensitivity is to accelerators rather than latex protein, ask specifically for an accelerator-free construction and confirm it in the material declaration.

Yes. Polybag, dispenser box and carton labels are specified at artwork stage, including barcode format and any plant-specific label layout.

Send the glove you need.

A product link, a reference photo or a short buying brief is enough to start. Include the quantity, destination and any marking requirement.
